ブライアン、最近スーパーで米の値段見て、思わず白目で「Oh my Gosh！」って叫びそうになったよ！
Man, when I saw the price of rice at the supermarket lately, I almost yelled “Oh my Gosh!” while my eyes rolled back!

ブライアン、ダイエットのために最近お米食べてなかったからさ、正直今まであまり気にしていなかったんだけど。
I haven’t been eating much rice lately because of my diet, so I honestly hadn’t paid much attention until now.

今さら思ったんだ。
But then it hit me.

「そもそも、なんでこんなことになってんの！？」って！！
“Why the heck is this happening in the first place!?”

で、例によって全力調査してみたら…もう情報がドバドバ出てくるんだ！
So I did my usual deep dive, and wow—the information just poured out!

「天候！」「政策！」「農家の危機！」「陰謀！」「古古米！」もう情報てんこ盛りだよ！
Weather! Policy! Farming crisis! Conspiracies! Super old rice! It’s a total info overload!

てことで今回は、この「お米が高くなった本当の理由」について、ブライアン的に全部まとめてお届けするね！これで君も米価格の「なるほど！」ポイントにたどり着けるはずだ！
So today, I’m gonna break it all down—Brian-style—on why rice is getting so expensive! This will definitely be your “Aha!” moment for rice prices!

ヤバすぎる猛暑でお米がヘロヘロに！？

まずこれ！天候の問題だね！
First up—weather problems!

2023年、マジでヤバかったんだ。地球が本気出したみたいな暑さだったからね！
2023 was insane! It felt like Earth cranked up the heat to max level!

そのせいで、お米がちゃんと育つための「登熟（とうじゅく）」っていう、一番大事なプロセスがうまくいかなかったんだ。
That crazy heat messed up a process called “tohjuku”—the final ripening stage of rice, which is crucial for rice growth.

これってさ、稲が美味しいお米になるための最終段階なんだけど、猛暑でやられちゃったんだよ！
This is basically when rice finishes growing to become delicious, but the heatwave ruined it!

しかも！追い打ちをかけるように、虫も大量発生して、稲がボロボロの「フルコンボだドン！」状態だ！
To make matters worse, bugs came out like crazy and totally wrecked the rice plants—a full combo hit!

これが原因で、特に安いはずのコシヒカリとか、加工用のお米がめっちゃ少なくなっちゃったんだよ！
That’s why cheaper varieties like Koshihikari and rice for processing are in really short supply now!

いやもう、お米界の夏バテ、エグすぎるんじゃない！？水と土だけじゃ回復できなかったんだよ！まるで夏休み明けの宿題みたいに、手遅れだったんだ！
Man, it was like rice had a serious summer heatstroke—and no amount of water or soil could help! It was too late, just like that homework after summer break!

国の政策で田んぼがガラ空き！？減反ってなに！？

はい、次！これまたちょっと闇が深い話なんだけど、「減反（げんたん）」っていう国の政策があるんだ！
Next up—this one’s a bit of a deep, murky story. There’s a government policy called “gentan.”

要は、国が農家さんに「米作りすぎんなよ〜、余るから。だからちょっと田んぼ休ませてくんない？その代わり金出すぜ！」って言ってた制度なんだ。
Basically, the government told farmers, “Don’t grow too much rice, or we’ll have too much left over. So, how about taking a break from your fields? We’ll pay you for it!”

これがさ…なんと50年も続いてたんだって！！
And get this—it went on for 50 years!!

もう「おじいちゃんの代から田んぼなんて耕してねぇ！」みたいなレベルだよ！これは「浦島太郎もびっくり」な政策ってやつかな！？
That’s like, “My grandpa hasn’t grown rice since his time!” level long! It’s the kind of policy that would even surprise Rip Van Winkle!

現在は減反政策自体は廃止されたけど、米の需要に見合った生産を促すための生産調整は今も続いてるんだってさ！
They ended the gentan policy itself, but they’re still adjusting production to match rice demand.

長年の政策の影響で、日本の米の生産基盤が縮小してきちゃったんだね。
So yeah, the long-term effects of these policies have shrunk Japan’s rice production base.

農家が限界突破してる件！高齢化・資材高騰・人手不足！

次は農家さんの現場の話だね。
Now let’s talk about what’s going on with the farmers.

これはもう…マジで胸が痛む話なんだ。
Honestly, it’s heartbreaking.

お米作ってる人の年齢が、本当に「え、マジで！？」ってくらいヤバいんだよ。
The age of rice farmers is seriously high—like, “Are you kidding me!?” high.

農家の平均年齢、なんと67歳！！
The average age of farmers? A whopping 67 years old!!

いや、それもう年金受け取りながらコンバイン乗ってるレベルじゃないか！？まさに「もういい！休め！」って感じだよ！
Seriously, that’s like riding a combine while collecting a pension, isn’t it!? It’s totally a “That’s enough! Take a break!” situation!

しかも、後継ぎいない、若者来ない、農業資材は全部高騰、燃料も爆上がり…！
On top of that, there’s no one to take over, young people aren’t interested, all farming materials are super expensive, and fuel prices have skyrocketed!

マジでこれ、ボス戦の直前でパーティ全員HPもMPも枯渇寸前、回復アイテムも底をついた状態なの！
It’s like your RPG team is about to face the boss, but everyone’s out of HP and MP, and you’ve run out of healing items too!

なのに需要だけうなぎ登り！？インバウンドと外食の逆襲！

そして逆に、需要は「ロケット花火」みたいに、めちゃくちゃ上がってるんだ！！
On the flip side, demand is skyrocketing like a firework rocket!

コロナ明けで外食も戻ってきたし、インバウンド、つまり海外からの旅行者もドーンと増えて、みんな米食うわけだよ！
After COVID, people started eating out again, and inbound tourism—people coming to Japan—totally exploded. And guess what? They all eat rice!

しかも円安だから、「コンビニのおにぎり安っっ！！」って海外観光客がめっちゃ買っちゃう！
Plus, the weak yen makes convenience store rice balls seem super cheap to foreign tourists, so they’re buying tons of them!

いや、こっちからしたら「それ高い方だから！！」ってツッコむやつだね。
Meanwhile, we’re over here like, “Dude, that’s actually expensive for us!!”

需要が爆上がりしてんのに、供給が減ってるっていう、まさに「不幸のコンボ」だよ。
So yeah, demand is way up while supply is going down—a total disaster combo.

そりゃあ…米の値段も高騰するわけだよ…。
No wonder rice prices are soaring…

円安・戦争・小麦高騰！？世界の波が日本のおにぎりに直撃！

あとはもう世界の影響もバリバリに来てるんだ！
Global issues are hitting hard too!

円安 → 輸入品高くなる。
Weak yen → Imported goods get more expensive.

ウクライナ侵攻 → 小麦価格が爆上がり。
War in Ukraine → Wheat prices shoot up.

小麦高いから → 相対的に米の需要が上がる！
Wheat gets pricey → So rice demand goes up too!

もう、世界中のニュースが全部おにぎりに影響与えてくる感じなのよ！
What is this!? Like, every world headline somehow ends up affecting our rice balls!

これはもう、バタフライエフェクト…「風が吹けば桶屋が儲かる」みたいな話だね！
It’s like the butterfly effect… or that old saying, “If the wind blows, the cooper profits”!

備蓄米という秘密兵器、ついに出動！

で、政府も何とかしようとして、備蓄米ってのを放出してきたんだ！！
So the government tried to fix things by releasing stockpiled rice!

この備蓄米ってのは、緊急時のために国がストックしてるお米なわけ！「非常食の最終兵器」ってやつだ！
Stockpiled rice is basically rice the government saves for emergencies! It’s like the ultimate emergency food weapon!

2025年から市場に流してるんだけど…
They started releasing it into the market in 2025, but…

出てきた米が…まさかの古古米（ここまい）！！
The rice was… “cocoma-i” (super old rice)!!

え！？古米じゃなくて古古米！？！？！？
Wait—NOT just old rice, but SUPER old rice!?

どうやら、収穫から１年たつごとに「古」を増やして呼ぶらしいんだ。
Apparently, they add a “ko” (old) for each year since harvest.

去年の米は古米。一昨年の米は古古米。
Last year’s is “komai” (old rice). Two years ago? “kokomai.”

しかも、古古古米、古古古古米まで出てきちゃって。
And they even brought out triple and quadruple old rice!

何その名前！パパパパパフィーみたいになってるけど大丈夫！？
What kind of name is that!? Sounds like “Pa-Pa-Pa-Pa-Pa-Puffy” or something similar, but is it okay?!

陰謀論！米を裏で操る“黒い炊飯器”の正体とは！？

Conspiracy theory time! Whether you believe it or not is up to you!

「ほんとにそれだけが理由なのか？」って疑いたくなるのが人間のサガだよね。
It’s human nature to wonder, “Is that REALLY the only reason?”

ネットで話題になってる説を、「冷静と情熱のあいだ」を保ちつつ、紹介していくよ！
Let’s look at some online theories—keeping a cool head while still being passionate about the truth!

JAが出荷をコントロールして、価格を調整してる】説

これはよくあるやつだね！
This is a common one!

「農協が市場に出す米の量を意図的に絞って、価格を吊り上げてる」って説。
The theory is that JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) is intentionally limiting the amount of rice released to the market to drive up prices.

米の流通の要でもあるJAだからこそ、こういう話が出てきやすいのかもね。
Since JA plays a key role in rice distribution, it’s easy for theories like this to pop up.

ただ実際には、出荷調整って需給バランスを保つための制度的な動きでもあるから、
But in reality, shipment control is usually about maintaining the balance between supply and demand.

「悪意がある」とまでは言えない…というのが一般的な見解だよ。
So, most people say it’s not really about being malicious.

ブライアン的にはね、「操作してる！」というよりは、
From Brian’s point of view, it’s not “manipulation”—

「需給のギリギリバランスが崩れただけ」って感じに見えるね！
It’s more like the delicate balance of supply and demand just barely broke.

政府が戦時に備えてコメを備蓄してて、あえて市場に出してない】説

ちょ、リアルで怖いやつ来た。
Whoa, this one’s actually kind of scary.

でもこれは実際に備蓄米制度があるからこその想像でもあるんだよね！
But honestly, it’s not that far-fetched since the stockpile system does exist!

もちろん、政府はちゃんと2024年から備蓄米を放出してるし、
Of course, the government did start releasing stockpiled rice in 2024.

しかも「2020年産の古古米」まで出してるってことは、もう隠してる余裕なんてないレベルだよ！
And the fact that they even brought out 2020-harvested “kokomai” (super old rice) means they’re clearly not hiding anything anymore!

ただ一方で、「国が持ってる米は本当にこれだけなのか？」って声もあるにはある。
But some folks still wonder, “Is this really all the rice in the government’s possession?”

真相は俺たちがどんなに調べたところで分かりっこないんだけどね。
Truth is, we’ll probably never know for sure.

大手企業が投機目的で買い占めしてる】説

これはいわゆる“米を金融商品として見る”って話だ。
This one’s about seeing rice as a kind of financial asset.

ビットコインや金みたいに、物価上昇の波に乗って米を買い込んでるとか。
Like Bitcoin or gold, they’re supposedly stocking up on rice as prices rise.

でも、お米って保存にもスペース取るし、鮮度も落ちるから金融商品にするには結構難しいんだ。
But rice requires space for storage and its freshness deteriorates, so it’s quite difficult to treat it as a financial product.

そこまでして儲かるか？ってところは疑問だよ。
It’s questionable whether it’s profitable enough to go to such lengths.

とはいえ、「あの大手商社が米に目をつけてる」って噂が流れると…
That being said, if a rumor spreads that “that major trading company is eyeing rice”…

ちょっとザワつくよね。
it makes you a little uneasy, doesn’t it?

昆虫食を普及させるために、米をあえて高騰させている】説

これ！最近ちょいちょい見かけるのがこの話だ！
This one’s been popping up a lot lately!

「米を高くして、食卓からコメを遠ざける→将来的に“代替食”としてコオロギを食べさせる流れじゃないか？」っていうやつ。
It’s the idea that making rice expensive moves it away from the dinner table, and in the future, it’s a trend to make people eat crickets as an alternative food.

いやいやいや、シナリオが壮大すぎない！？
Whoa, talk about an over-the-top plot!

でもたしかに、代替穀物や昆虫食の話題はここ数年で一気に増えてきたのは事実なんだ。
But it’s true that topics like alternative grains and insect-based foods have rapidly increased in the past few years.

もち麦とかキヌアとかオートミールとか、あと“あの昆虫パウダー”もコンビニ商品に出てるしね。
You’ve seen barley, quinoa, oatmeal—and even insect powder—in convenience store products, right?

君のビジネスにも何かヒントがあるかもよ！

「人は見たいものしか見ない」とはよく言ったもので、

何かの流れが加速すると、「裏に誰かがいるんじゃ？」って思っちゃうのも自然なことかもね。
